Tab stop

A TAB STOP is a specific, measured position that aligns text on a line and is used by pressing the TAB key. There are five types of tab stops: Left, Center, Right, Decimal, and Bar.

The LEFT tab stop aligns and extends text to the right from the tab. The CENTER tab stop centers text at the tab. The RIGHT tab stop extends text to the left from the tab until the tab's space is filled, and then extends text to the right. The DECIMAL tab stop extends text before the decimal point to the left and after the decimal point to the right. The BAR tab stop puts a bar at the tab and extends text to the right.
